Whole storyline got off to a bad start when Reigns simply shrugged off the initial attack and the episode ended with him walking away.
Was either John Pollock or someone else who mentioned the storyline really comes off as something being written week to week and not something that was planned out ahead of time. Like no real build up to Rowan snapping or his doppelgänger being just a swerve.
