I think it is supposed to be like, Jericho tried to put his jealousy aside and team with him but jealousy won out, so he has lost it a bit and is rambling, looking for reasons to dislike him, rather than admit to himself that he got beaten by the better wrestler at this stage of his career.
It could be a really cool story if they go in that direction. An aging, jealous Y2J, trying desperately to rationalise his actions and get a win over AJ. He is angry, as a legend, future hall of famer, having to prove himself against a guy who has only just joined the big time.
Bitter, angry and self-righteous Y2J is the way to go. Have him do something desperate and despicable to win at Mania so things get more personal and heated.
