Oh boy, we wouldn't want any scary petitions signed by a fringe sample of the potential millions of buyers for a AAA title. Ask David Hayter how that worked out.
And even without petitions; Reuben Langdon has portrayed Ken in Street Fighter since 2009 in games and anime (and a cameo soundbyte for Wreck-It Ralph). Replaced in SFV. Fucks given; none. Most people won't even notice. He is also basically Dante incarnate, playing the part in voice and motion capture for DMC3-4. There were many fucks given when the series had that terrible reboot actually, but that was for many more reasons than simply him not being Dante. At least he did some new stuff for the special edition. But make no mistake, if Capcom course corrects and makes DMC5 but without Langdon, it would be a riot but hardly one Capcom would budge at.
Clair Redfield in Revelations 2 replaced legacy actress Alyson Court who portrayed her since RE2 all the way up to the first CG movie not long ago. Fucks given; none.
Zero in MvC3 replaced a longtime Zero VO (name I forget this moment) with Ichigo himself Johnny Bosch. Fuck given; none.
Tekken's Heihachi VO since the beginning died sometime before Tekken Tag 2. I'm betting the guys who play Tekken here didn't even know that before I wrote it down this instant.
Let's not pretend this isn't about the FEW voice actors who's contributions to certain characters were paramount. They get to negotiate. And it's always been like that. And even then if a publisher has to, they'll whether the storm of the dreadful
Petition and wait exactly 4 months for gamers to forget and pre-order the game.
Sora's VO Hayley Joel since part 1 changed because his voice matured. Fucks given; none.
The Street Fighter Japanese VO cast changes
every series. Fucks given; none.
Etc.
