To be fair a lot of that credit has to go to Bill Apter. Every wrestling fan I knew read Pro Wrestling Illustrated like it was the fucking Bible. That got Flair's name out there even if NWA wasn't big in a certain market. I don't remember watching WCW until 1993 but I knew who Ric Flair was before he came to the WWF in 1991.
