Yeah, there's a reason Flair didn't have to start from the bottom and work his way up the card when he came to WWF in 1991. Everyone who watched wrestling and a lot of people who didn't knew who Ric Flair was. He was already a legend.

To be fair a lot of that credit has to go to Bill Apter. Every wrestling fan I knew read Pro Wrestling Illustrated like it was the fucking Bible. That got Flair's name out there even if NWA wasn't big in a certain market. I don't remember watching WCW until 1993 but I knew who Ric Flair was before he came to the WWF in 1991.
