Lookit Gertner being all lenient. Actually, Roman Reigns was fucking abysmal on the mic. Beyond Jeff Hardy first push bad. Like, David Otunga NXT debut promo, "Why is he on my television?" bad. And as with Otunga at the time, he was supposed to be portraying this arrogant, knows-he's-the-shit heel. That doesn't mix well with visible stage fright. Nobody's gonna buy that you're the next big deal and the top of the food chain if you sell it like a shy little girl on her first date.

That's why it was 100% smart to scrap that and, on his Shield debut, sum him up with "I only talk when I *need* to talk" business. Hides his flaws at that moment, and gave him... how much time has The Shield been around now to work on his promos and gradually get better? He was teamed with two guys who could do the heavy lifting and possibly give him some help onstage and some pointers backstage. He may not be Mr. Personality at this point still, and I still don't agree to strapping a rocket to his ass just because he's ethnic and massive, but he should be quite a bit better on the stick by now if he's done some skill polishing this past year.
