2 episodes in on season one of True Detective. Intrigued so far but I wish the pacing would pick up.

Seanny One Ball 12-29-2020 08:45 AM

It does

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-30-2020 05:21 AM

The final season of Vikings has been released (in its entirety). The show is well past its prime, but I should see it to the end.

I've also been rewatching season 4 of the Expanse, whilst I wait for season 5 to be fully released.

XL 12-30-2020 05:43 PM

The Boys.

Lock Jaw 01-03-2021 01:34 AM

Just finished watching S7 of The Clone Wars..... damn..... want more of immediate Ahsoka/Rex follow-up.... screw this Bad Batch spin-off.... I'd even have taken a Martez Sisters spin-off instead.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-05-2021 02:29 AM

Season 2 of True Detective. There's a lot of characters. Feel like it's harder to keep up. I like Colin Farrell as the unhinged cop wanting his loser kid back. But so far I'm a little lost.

Lock Jaw 01-05-2021 10:55 PM

Heard some positive things about Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, which had its S2 debut tonight...... so I went back and watched the S1 pilot episode of it... enjoyed it...

Helmsphere 01-06-2021 12:19 AM

Finishing up the chilling adventures of Sabrina.

I marked out for the Aunt's from the 90 sitcom showing up.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-07-2021 02:30 AM

Finished S2 of True Detective. It wasn't bad. In fact, a lot of it was really good. But not collectively. As I feared, there was just way too many storylines and threads to keep up with. It took away from the central case, which, in and of itself, was maybe the least interesting part of the season because of the pay off.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-09-2021 05:11 PM

I was kind of underwhelmed by the final season of Vikings; then again, whilst it was still watchable, the series had seen better days. The whole conclusion to the Rus storyline was blah, and you kind of wonder why they built it up in the first part of season 6; everything else felt rushed or somewhat out of place.

I recently finished (re)watching season 3 of Scrubs; that show was absolute gold. I don't think you would be able to get away with making the show, now, because at times it is politically incorrect by today's standards; hell, in one episode Zack Braff puts on blackface. I'm hoping Amazon will have the other seasons on sale soon (I was hoping they would during the Xmas break), as I really don't feel like paying £17.99 for a 15+ year old series.

I've started rewatching The Shield, as its on Amazon Prime now, and I need to watch season 3 of Stark Trek: Discovery. I've not read any reviews of the new ST: Discovery season, but my gut tells me it will be a shitshow. I still need to watch Raised by Wolves as well.

History of Curse Words. It started out good....fuck.. shit..bitch

then dick and pussy. yawn. it needed cunt

Seth82 01-10-2021 12:45 PM

am re-watching The Office US.

almost finished with season 3. still as fun as I remembered it being.

Finished S1

Damian Rey 2.0 01-10-2021 11:38 PM

Season 1 of Selena on Netflix is a let down. Selena is written and presented like a PR puff piece. Always smiling. Always happy and upbeat. Always saying the right thing. Other than the forbidden relationship with her band's guitarist, which is glossed over, ages presented as mostly flawless. It's a disservice to the person. And the actress doesn't bring the same energy as Jennifer Lopez did in the film.

Hopefully the second season, assuming there is one, picks up on the mountain of criticism this has gotten and fixes things.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-12-2021 12:51 AM

On to s3 of True Detective. Mahershala Ali is captivating.

Jordan 01-12-2021 11:02 AM

Blood - finished this recently. Must watch especially if you live in the UK. Fantastic two season family murder drama staring Adrian Dunbar. Irish show.

That lead me to...

Line of Duty - Also staring Adrian Dunbar. Probably my favorite policing show since The Wire. Just fucking incredible and each season is better than the next. It's about an anti curruption unit in the English Police. Cops busting bad coppers, I can't wait for season 6 in February.

The Detectorists - An incredibly funny and touching English show about two guys who search the grounds for gold and always end up with buttons and pull rings.

These are all available on Acorn TV.

Destor 01-12-2021 08:23 PM

rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the millionth time

Lock Jaw 01-12-2021 08:26 PM

Buffy has got a comic book "reboot" going on right now.... haven't read it and all I know about it is that apparently Xander got made into a vampire and is the "Big Bad"

Destor 01-13-2021 01:52 AM

the first comic run (season 8 and onward) were very good...reboot...eh

Lock Jaw 01-13-2021 09:19 AM

Dunno if I ever finished the season 9 comics...

Destor 01-13-2021 09:31 AM

i wish they had released the seasons in a hard back

Damian Rey 2.0 01-13-2021 03:06 PM

Finished True Detective S3. Huge upgrade over the second season. Much more satisfying conclusion and far better story. Having just one central character and a strong supporting cast as opposed to multiple central characters like S2 was a good change.

M-A-G 01-15-2021 10:57 AM

Finished both available episodes of WandaVision. I hope they're not all going to be just half an hour long.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-15-2021 12:15 PM

I think WandaVision has 30 min episodes, whilst Loki and Falcon/Winter Soldier will have 45-50 min episodes.

M-A-G 01-15-2021 01:45 PM

Well, I'll take what I can get. It's been one hell of a Marvel drought.

GD 01-16-2021 04:34 AM

Watching the final season of "The Good Place."

GD 01-16-2021 06:25 AM

The last episode :(

Good News Gertie 01-18-2021 02:23 AM

Wayne
Servant season 2
Your Honour
Two Weeks to Live
Supermarket Sweep (w/Leslie Jones... I know it’s just commercials really but it is EXCITING)

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-18-2021 09:18 AM

Finished season 3 of Star Trek Discovery. I thought it was the best season of Discovery so far (not saying much), and it is about time we saw some "future" Star Trek rather than films and series constantly going back before the TNG/DS9/Voyager-era.

They did try to foist some identity politics upon us (the whole pronouns/non-binary thing), but other than that, I enjoyed it; I look forward to season 4.

rez 01-18-2021 12:31 PM

Really disappointing end to Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

ClockShot 01-18-2021 02:37 PM

The Watch on BBC America.

so good...so good i'd punch seanny one ball in the face for a new ep each time

GD 01-23-2021 06:12 AM

Started watching Cobra Kai.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-23-2021 06:28 AM

I've been rewatching The Shield; I'm now into season 4.

It is so good. It probably looks a bit dated to those that never watched it when the show was originally on, due to the flip-phones et al circa 2003, but it is still gritty and immersive.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-23-2021 06:22 PM

Started Monarca on Netflix. Got thru 2 episodesand the interest is picking up. Love me some good old fashioned cartel dramas in Spanish.

Good News Gertie 01-25-2021 08:40 PM

Started On Becoming a God in Central Florida. Pretty good for what it is.

If you are watching that willingly then you are a huge retard

Sepholio 01-26-2021 06:17 PM

Just watched His Dark Materials. I like it. Didnt realize it was a reboot of The Golden Compass when I started but Ibalways thought they should have kept that series going so this is good.

Seanny One Ball 02-06-2021 12:33 PM

It's not a reboot of "The Golden Compass".
"The Golden Compass" is an unfaithful adaptation of one book in the trilogy known as "His Dark Materials".

Seanny One Ball 02-06-2021 12:34 PM

Watch "Resident Alien" it is full of Alan Tudyk being weird.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-06-2021 12:51 PM

I'm coming to the end of my re-watch of The Shield; into the final few episodes and it is all coming apart for Vic and Shane. It was such a great show.

I am on to the final episode of season 5 The Expanse; it has been a much stronger showing this time round than season 4. I liked season 4, but it was smaller in scale and more interested in setting up the pieces for the current season rather than anything else.

I was thinking of pulling out my Deadwood boxsets and re-watching them before viewing the "film" that came out a couple of years ago.

joshwoodsrohfandm 02-06-2021 01:27 PM

Walker reboot although it's nowhere near what i expected. The Masked Dancer, spin-off of The real champion; Masked Singer. Also shows like Big Bang Theory. Family Matters on TV1 saved by the bell on E and IFC and other shows i can't remember.

Remember when she tried to hug Jerry Seinfeld and he laughed in her face and said no?
That was very satisfying for me.

GD 02-07-2021 03:56 PM

He did not laugh in her face. He was unaware of who she was and did not want his boundaries to be violated like that :o

Seanny One Ball 02-07-2021 07:06 PM

Don't get so upset about it

Supreme Olajuwon 02-11-2021 10:06 PM

We’re now watching the Good Place and it’s pretty good! But I was told it was pretty great. But it’s not bad! And it might get better! Still in season 1 and definitely planning to watch more.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-11-2021 10:08 PM

Managing expectations is always important

Seanny One Ball 02-12-2021 12:36 AM

I watched it a bit but it had hallmarks of a show that regresses rather than progresses.
I can't sign up for seasons of dithering around.

Please update us after you're done watching the final episode <3

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-12-2021 08:57 AM

Finished season 5 of The Expanse; enjoyed it as always, and I look forward to the final season at the end of this year/start of 2022.

I'm three episodes into the first season of The Outpost; it is naff, but I will continue to watch it because the lead woman is so ridiculously attractive. I have also watched the first two episodes of The Night Manager; it seems pretty decent for a BBC drama.

I found the charm of the novelty/whimsy kinda wore off for me after season 1. :-\

Season 1 of The Watch wrapped up on BBC America. Not bad. Left things on a cliffhanger.

Think I'm going to jump into Netflix and start watching Lupin.

Finished season 1 of the Good Place. The spoiler was PrettyCool. Also the jokes are very funny. But something feels off about it. I dunno.

That laugh was so maniacal...I fucking loved it.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-21-2021 05:39 PM

I've finished The Night Manager. I don't tend to like BBC dramas, but it was a solid "espionage" series. Tom Hiddleston's easy charm carries the series, along with good performances by Hugh Laurie and Olivia Coleman.

I have also finished the first season of The Outpost and I have started the second one. If you like fantasy-based programmes, I think you will like it; plus, the lead woman is a smokeshow. It feels a bit naff at first, but stick with it whilst it finds its footing.

I recently finished season 5 of my re-watch of Scrubs. I think this was the first season where there was a definite drop in quality, and a general sense of fatigue in the show. Perhaps it rebounds in season 6, but it is sometime since I watched that season. I'll probably save seasons 6-8 (season 9 can fuck off) for my 14-day self-isolation at the end of March, when I relocate for my new job.

Seanny One Ball 02-21-2021 06:20 PM

Going through Malcolm in the Middle... really fucking funny

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-22-2021 10:58 AM

A TV channel over here in the UK has been reshowing Malcolm in the Middle; I'd forgotten how good it was, particularly the early seasons.

Seanny One Ball 02-22-2021 12:46 PM

Frankie Muniz doesn't remember any of it, he runs an olive oil store now.

mitchables 02-22-2021 08:45 PM

i was really reluctant to get another streaming service but a friend of mine kept going on about ted lasso so i took the plunge and i gotta say, it was worth. great show, binged the heck out of it

so while i was at it i also churned through mythic quest, which was also excellent, and am currently making my way through central park, which is a good time but for sure more niche in appeal than the other shows. but i like me a good musical comedy so i am on board

otherwise, wandavision is the weekly appointment atm. been catching up on barry also, as i fell behind a bit

all of these shows are Very GoodTM

Seanny One Ball 02-22-2021 09:25 PM

Ted Lasso is a lovely sitcom that warms my heart.
Well done Mitch, you have gone up in my estimations.

Only good people love Ted Lasso.

mitchables 02-22-2021 11:38 PM

seanny it's so pure and wholesome, and i loved it so much more than i was expecting to. absolutely delightful "program", as i am not sure whether they still say in the UK

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-28-2021 06:41 AM

I'm half-way through the first season of Raised by Wolves; a superior sci-fi series. Check it out. The only person I recognize in it is the chap who played Ragnar Lodbrok in Vikings.

Seanny One Ball 02-28-2021 09:21 AM

It sounded good but I never got round to looking for it.
May hunt later on.

Seanny One Ball 03-02-2021 08:17 PM

Deep into "The Shield" now.
Already into season 2 and the Arab hatred is palpable.

Seanny One Ball 03-02-2021 08:40 PM

There is only one badly played character in this show and it's Vic's wife.
Her acting is atrocious. Genuinely bad.

Seanny One Ball 03-02-2021 09:27 PM

Vic walking into a hospital waiting room with his jacket zipped up to cover his bullet in the guts from his children after not seeing them for months...that is fucking high level.
You can't fuck with Vic.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-03-2021 05:06 AM

You're welcome.

Seanny One Ball 03-03-2021 05:12 AM

It is a very well paced show. The dialogue is hokey as shit and the acting can be a bit gamey but overall it hits the emotional spots so perfectly that you have to give it credit.

The dialogue is so on the nose that it becomes an exercise at times but it is good.

Seth82 03-03-2021 11:30 AM

am nearly finished watching the 1990s version of Pride and Prejudice. It recently reaired on PBS awhile back.

this is the one with Colin Firth.

pretty great miniseries so far. 8/10.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-03-2021 02:00 PM

I've finished the first season of Raised by Wolves. If you like sci-fi with a trippy edge to it, you'll like it a lot.

I'm going to have to go back to watching the second season of The Outpost, which is going to feel rather inadequate in comparison.

Seanny One Ball 03-03-2021 07:59 PM

Hmmmm...

Turns out the one bad actor in The Shield is married to the show's fucking creator.
What an arsehole, she is awful.

I think I may have suggested this to you before, but just in case I haven't, I think you'd like the 1980s TV adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited, with Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews. I watch that series once a year; I'm about due to watch it again.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-03-2021 08:11 PM

Finished season 2 of the Good Place which was fine. Starting season 3. Maya Rudolph! Always a treat. Still just ok with this show though.

The Good Place was such a good show :(

Supreme Olajuwon 03-03-2021 08:19 PM

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-04-2021 06:30 AM

Brideshead is some quality television, even though it is 40 years old.

Happy on Netflix.

Halfway through the 1st season enjoying it more than i thought.

Also watching Young Rock.

Depends on if they shove it in your face how "woke" and "progressive" they are, or if it "just is".

There's nothing progressive about Jewish Hollywood nepotism.

Seanny One Ball 03-08-2021 06:21 PM

You presumably just sat there enjoying her atrocious performance.

Seanny One Ball 03-08-2021 06:25 PM

Walton Goggins has also been poor in this.
The broad he knocks up is shit too.

It isn't full of great performances, it's relying on a handful.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-16-2021 01:53 PM

I just finished season 2 of The Outpost; on the one hand it is kind of naff, but on the other hand it is entertaining. I'll watch season 3 once it is available on Prime.

I'm currently on the first season of S.W.A.T., which I think was previously a tv show in the 1970s and later a film with Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell. This version has been adapted by Shawn Ryan (The Shield). I'm about 7 episodes in and it is cheesy and a bit preachy, but I'm hoping it is going to settle down and be a solid show.

I feel like I'm about ready to move on to a different streaming service for a while, either Netflix again or perhaps try Disney+. I've pretty much watched all the quality tv shows that Prime has to offer.

Seanny One Ball 03-16-2021 03:29 PM

Shawn Ryan is a complete hack.

I'm still watching The Shield but mostly out of a sense of duty.
Season 4 is a massive drop in quality.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-16-2021 03:53 PM

It picks up again in Season 5 with the introduction of Lt. Kavanaugh (Forrest Whittaker), but it also sees an increase in the screen time of Mackey's wife.
