Glad to have his opinion on it. So, who's next to chime in: Harvey Danger? Amanda Bynes? iCarly? The new, more obnoxious kid that played Richie Rich?

What does that kid who played Jorge on Bunk'd have to say about it?

xrodmuc316 01-07-2022 02:27 PM

LOL Home Alone came out in 1990. This dude is STILL doing that role to make money today. Yeah but WWE bad for having rematches

BigCrippyZ 01-07-2022 02:34 PM

Yeah, it's totally the same thing. WWE having weekly or monthly rematches is exactly like Culkin waiting some 20 years to parody or be involved again in a former project.

slik 01-07-2022 02:36 PM

Sepholio 01-07-2022 09:00 PM

This.....this is kind of a big deal

GD 01-07-2022 09:02 PM

Holy shit! That's wild.

Sepholio 01-07-2022 09:04 PM

I don't know what's more shocking...that she's in the Rumble or that they mentioned her being Impact champion. I'm leaning towards the latter tho.

GD 01-07-2022 09:05 PM

Wow! I just heard a clip of Pat McAfee saying Impact Knockouts Champion Mickie James...wow!

Supreme Olajuwon 01-07-2022 09:08 PM

Need the Iiconics to show up too

Sepholio 01-07-2022 09:08 PM

Makes me wonder if they snap a couple guys up for the Mens Rumble too. Moose in the Rumble would be good shit. I could see them maybe getting Cass/Morrissey for it. Sucks about the whole situation with Toni Storm cuz damn woulda been cool to see Juice in the rumble. Rich Swann would be a good one but considering he was let go for their zero tolerance policy on domestic violence I don't think they would ever use him.

GD 01-07-2022 09:09 PM

I still remember when Christian appeared on Slammiversary when he was the Intercontinental Champion back in 2012. This is on another level. An active world champion from a different promotion performing in WWE...this is just wild.

Sepholio 01-07-2022 09:14 PM

I know it'll never happen but I'm already off in fantasy land about the potential of someone from outside WWE winning either Rumble.

Also over here mulling the prospect of the door being open for other promotions too secretly. Everyone distracted by potential Impact entrants coming out and Will Ospreays music hits. Or Okada.

Not gonna lie, I would love the TNA/Impact library on the WWE Network. I've tried Impact+ 2 different times, and it is very lacking and incomplete.

Another way to look at it; Khan has “skin in the game”, criticism of AEW is criticism of his company. You’re a nobody on the internet who reacts to every bit of criticism of a company you have nothing to do with.

Not saying Khan should be conducting himself in this way because it’s super off-putting. I’m also aware that you think you’re providing “balance” to all the AEW apologists, but an insincere “Vincel” gimmick doesn’t really add a great deal of value to the conversation. Playing Devil’s Advocate or taking an actually held view to its extreme for the sake of “debate” is all well and good but it’s also disingenuous.

Fignuts 01-08-2022 08:27 AM

Macaulay Culkin would have had to star in a dozen more home alone movies to compare him to the new day/usos repetitiveness. A one minute geico commercial doesn't cut it.

Jordan 01-08-2022 10:52 AM

Just thinking about Nick Khan and WWE. I think by the time Nick takes over the while show from Vince that he's actually set himself up REALLY well to lead the company.

With Nick getting the blame for all these releases, he's set himself up to be an absolute BOSS. The fear that he will have associated with him name and presence will be the next closest thing to Vince and his set of grapefruits.

Nick will be feared and thus respected as the next Vince, HHH would have had a version of this but with the insane firing, Nick is an absolute monster of a boss.

Lol, I was just coming here to ask how long Tom Hannifan had been working for Impact after looking at their roster Wiki. Had no clue it was literally just now.

Honestly, a pretty good signing for them. He was a WWE drone, but a better one than most they produce. Is it true that D’Lo Brown is the other commentator? Lol, how does that go?

I think I might have to start watching Impact again.

Am I looking too much into things that the WWE gave some of their announcers fake names like Michael Cole and Tom Phillips? I mean, when it comes to fake announcer names, “Cole” and “Phillips” should just be off limits. Unless it’s just a really weird coincidence and they picked the names themselves and no one ever connected those dots.

XL 01-08-2022 04:14 PM

Michael Cole’s actual surname is Coulthard so not a massive departure. Not sure about Tom Phillips though.

Yeah, Coulthard to Cole isn’t that much of a leap, but it’s still just something I think about time-to-time (this time because Impact signed Tom Hannifan).

Maybe his middle name is Philip?

Haha. That’s the first thing I checked (as Cole’s middle name is Michael).

They've done that for years, Sunny at one point was called Tamara Murphy when she was doing all these commentating and backstage spots. WWE just has to gimmick the shit out of everything and attempt to own anything they think they can merchandise. Starting to think Vince is part Jew.

Was just reading a recent interview and lol Tony Khan strikes again

"The only time in the demo, in the Wednesday Night War, which, somebody told me, and it's good advice, maybe we should make our own documentary of the Wednesday Night War. Like a one-sided documentary. I think it's a really good idea," Khan said. "We could call it like 76 to 1 or 75 to 1. The one involved Adam Cole in a huge match and most of the good quarters, I thought he was such an important part of it, but also, you can't overlook Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish."

This actually is the thing that people think they’re doing now. But they’re not.

Mr. Nerfect 01-09-2022 03:30 PM

And that’s one of the things that bothers me about people talking wholesale about advancements in modern women’s wrestling. The men’s wrestling today isn’t as good as the women were then.

XL 01-09-2022 03:50 PM

I’ve said this before; maybe I just don’t get it. There’s just no skill involved in what they are doing. I appreciate that’s a snippet, but they’re just smashing each other in the face.

Way more skill in this than a modern exchange you’ll see between two guys doing soft forearms and pretending it doesn’t hurt. There’s a little bit of timing on Aja’s part here. When she chooses to go down from that last shot. Gets a big pop. And you’re right, it is just a snippet.

I will agree that a lot of stuff in the same vein doesn’t require as much skill as people say, but these two were really good imo.

It's not meant to be a display of skill, but rather physical toughness. The phrase "Victory Through Guts" is right in the AJW logo.

Besides that point, it's just a snippet, as you said. What makes AJW and a lot of classic Japanese wrestling so great is they did such a great job of combining this stuff with the actual displays of skill you're looking for.

Honestly, a pretty good signing for them. He was a WWE drone, but a better one than most they produce. Is it true that D’Lo Brown is the other commentator? Lol, how does that go?

I think I might have to start watching Impact again.

Tom and D’Lo were pretty good last night. D’Lo has always been one of my favorites. He had a couple tongue tied moments but I liked their dynamic. Felt like a proper sports broadcasting duo

There was a point during the 10 man hardcore match that they were just giggling like idiots about the introduction of even more weapons into the match. I found it endearing. Seems like they enjoyed themselves and I hope they keep it going.

I'll never forget that Aja Kong match from 95 Raw when she fucking MURDERS her opponent Asari. 13 year old Gertner couldn't believe what he was seeing.

FTR, when I say “skill” I’m not talking Ricochet vs Osprey gymnastics. The whole point of wrestling is to not hurt your opponent. Potatoing each other isn’t that.

Correcting myself; it was Fully Loaded ‘98 and it was a match between Owen and Shamrock with Severn as the ref. And they did indeed do a spot where they put Shamrock’s head through the ceiling - albeit the ceiling was already damaged.

I really like the "two technical fouls" thing - it reminds me of public warnings in the World of Sport days, which is something I've long wanted to see brought back. It means that the referee can be empowered to take some kind of action, without jumping straight to a disqualification, so they don't look completely ineffectual.

There's a danger, with those rules, of it all being and bit staid and boring, and potentially repetitive, but what will make it interesting is if they have anyone start to break those rules, and how that's presented.

Surely a heel at some point will just start a match by kicking the face in the nads since they've got another foul to play with.

drave 01-11-2022 09:53 AM

Uhhh, "intentional contact with the ref" 1 foul.

Knock the ref out, then anything is fair game while the ref is "out". Lotsa room for fuckery.
