Apparently a rumor both started and got quickly debunk today of Cena's contract with WWE had quietly expired and WWE didn't even bother to put him on any sort of Legends deal.
The telltale sign of the rumor being fake was it being attributed to last week's Observer Newsletter that didn't mention anything about Cena's WWE contract expiring. |
Seems Kairi Sane recently made her decision regarding the future of her WWE and wrestling career.
Tokyo Sports reporting that Sane will be leaving WWE soon and returning to Japan to finish up her career before retiring. That lines up with previous rumors of her wanting to retire by the end of next year and missing being around her husband due to him living in Japan. |

While they haven't really capitalized on Nakamura, he also seems like he's been largely coasting through most of his main roster run aside from maybe his program with AJ.

Yeah their Mania match nowhere lived up to what it should've been, and unfortunately I think it was by design since it was only the first of what was going to be a three PPV program (another WWE stupidity, Mania never feels like the endgame for anything anymore).....and also because it wasn't the main.
Of course whatever concerns WWE had about "burning out the crowd" were stupid because that match was like 5 hours into the show. The crowd was already burned. And they were deader than dead for the actual main. Watching Lesnar and Reigns kick out of countless finishers to a silent and/or booing crowd felt like a bizarre human experiment. |
Its "WWE Style". I too, was fucking stoked at the possibility of another epic clash with those two only to be disappointed.
This is why I haven't routinely watched it in a very long time. if something comingup sounds like it can be good, I might check out a match or two. Keep the sub active for a family member. |

To a point. He's older and more broken down so he's not pulling off anything that Shinsuke can do now, but he's a good enough wrestler that he can work around his limitations and still have a good hard hitting match.

Besides missing Bobby/Robert Roode in the picture who wouldn't count anyways, NXT hasn't had a homegrown talent win their top belt since Bo Dallas and that was back in 2013. |
I know that Neville and Sami Zayn were known "names" (Neville less so) but I'd almost put them under "homegrown talent" because they weren't brought in like "this guy is a big deal! Love him!"

I’d say Ciampa and Gargano are “homegrown”, they weren’t known on the level of Samoa Joe, Balor, Nakamura, etc. |
Not sure I'd consider either as "homegrown" or else someone like Becky Lynch would also fit that criteria despite wrestling for around 10 years prior to her WWE debut. In terms of NXT Women champs, I'd consider Sasha Banks as homegrown since her pre-WWE career was very brief.
They did benefit a ton by being associated with NXT and WWE, especially considering Gargano and Ciampa were never meant to stick around in WWE as long as they did. Originally, they were only meant to be brought in for the short term and to give something back to EVOLVE in terms of exposure when the partnership was signed. Their quick rise in popularity and the match they had in the 1st CWC ended up changing WWE's mind and making their stay permanent. |
