I've had a mild bad experience with him and a phenomenal experience with him.

Bad - after his comedy set, we were near the end of the line, dude in front of us peppered him with inane ass questions. He was short, but not impolite by any means. He was tired and that happens.

Phenomenal - we had VIP prior to the show, we were near the front of the line, B dressed up in a Cactus Jill style getup, complete with matching leggings. He LOVED her and gave her a big real hug and all the time she wanted to talk. It was awesome.

According to the Observer and Fightful, WWE is currently working on major plans for NXT and their house shows on Saturdays. Main reason is due to them feeling worried over AEW's potential as a competitor.

According to the Observer, WWE has been in recent talks with FS1 to have NXT air on the network in order to directly compete against AEW's weekly show. Fightful hinted that WWE is also working on plans to counter AEW's PPVs on Saturdays with Network specials on those days and likely them leaning a lot more on their partner companies to help out.

Apparently the official reason why Sami Callihan beat Tessa Blanchard at Slamminversary was due to Impact officials thinking fans would turn on Tessa had she won and ruin the company's big plans for her going forward.

Somehow they thought Tessa winning would have been a worse moment and ending for Slamminversary in terms of backlash than had Elgin actually won the belt which was something they did consider doing at one point.

I mean, that's fine on paper, but this is a different time than like it was during the Monday Night Wars*.

The idea of counter-programming is a bit dumb when the world is moving beyond the concept of appointment TV. Anyone truly interested won't be picking one show over the other, they'll be watching both when they're good and goddamn ready to: possibly neither one "live".

I mean, great to get some NXT love on actual television, but hopefully they'll be using it as more of a broadened technical course for Full Sail communications people and not as an earnest attempt to dissuade folks from tuning in to AEW.


*Even then, there was a point where WCW started re-running Nitro later on - even though they would gradually push that rerun later and later - , so it was fiesable to watch both RAW and Nitro if you watched WWE first.

Well, we've gone beyond the "7 year threshold" from LayCool, so maybe.

More exposure for NXT Brand plus more availability of the lesser Indie stuff like Evolve might be something that actually works well. I just can't see FS1 putting NXT on in primetime on Wednesday consistently given their coverage of other sports.

Just sitting on my couch having some coffee reading the sheets thinking wow what an amazing season for wrestling. We have WWE creatively on the rocks, posting Heyman and Bischoff to key creative roles, we have a AEW going to TNT and putting on great shows with a lot of fan fare, we have ROH reeling from the effects of WWE and NXT. We have NXT which is probably the best product WWE has ever produced putting on multiple amazing shows a year. We have an underground feeder to everyone MLW that is finding some of the best unrecognized talent and making them famous (MJF, Mance, Hammerstone, Fatu, Lawler)... With a very solid nostalgic hour of TV each week and coming soon with a big PPV. Oh and then we have the west coast wing, PWG which I've never been a patron of but obviously is one of the most influential companies in wrestling history, selling out their shows every show year after year. And then we have the cockroach of rasslin Impact, seemingly on the cusp of a new era if they get the Saturday Night deal along side WOW and NJPW. NJPW which is often considered the best product in the world, now a thing in the US. A pretty big thing too.... Shit and we got the border creeping up with Lucha Libre more popular than ever in the US. We have two AAA shows this year one at MSG and one in LA. We have CMLL stars making waves in almost every company in the world along with a huge change there with Paco's passing....

If I was 14 now, I don't think I'd ever do anything in high school I'd just be watching wrestling constantly. We are in a Pro Wrestling hurricane.

Oh and how can I forget the rest of the world? NXT UK, Progress, WXW, and Australia becoming a real thing in rasslin. Also Evolve on WWE Network. Just an insane amount of wrestling content going out right now.

Mance Warner is booked to fight Jerry Lawler at a GCW even in August. I read the news and I was worried. Lawler is old and he's survived a heart attack... I mean he died. And no joke, Mance hits harder than any wrestler I've ever seen. I've seen him in several match a MLW tapings and this guy man... his punches, forarms... and my god his chops. You cringe because really lays it in. It's possible he's an amazing worker and the guys aren't getting hurt but I would seriously be worried if Mance was chopping Lawler or crashing him with his forearm strikes. I hope they work light.

They shouldn' have booked a man/woman match to begin with. They should just end it and set her up with a Knockout title story.

As best I can tell, virtually every Lawler match on the indies for the past few years has been the same. Very basic but effective stuff. Heel keeps exiting the ring and stalling for time, relatively harmless heat spots. Heel rolls up Lawler with feet on the ropes, ref notices and stops it. Heel knocks ref around. Lawler eventually rolls up heel with feet on the ropes. Ref notices, but shrugs and counts the 3 anyway as a fuck you to the heel. Everyone gets a laugh and pops.

You don't need anything more from a Lawler match. But I'd be interested in Warner's willing to work a simple match like that.

Lawler hasn't taken a bump in 10 years.

I saw him work Kevin Owens in a Piledriver match in what might've actually been KO's last indy date before his signing was official.

I marked the fuck out for Lawler's flying dropkick, fist drop, and the piledriver. Guy was having a blast.

Just finished Evolve 10th Anniversary show. Was okay. None of the Evolve guys really moved the needle for me. AR Fox is dope. Didn't really understand the whole Evolve title vs. WWN title thing. Riddle vs. Gulag was good, but I thought their recent NXT taping match was better. Cole vs. Tozawa kept me entertained.
