Did they officially state that stories and arcs previous to the New 52 were no longer being made? Or just that they're going to start hitting up the New 52 for source material? Two very different things.
Yeah, there is still always hope (unless you are Kalyx). Even then, though, they could adapt old universe stories, but use crappy new universe costumes.
No matter the media implications, Flashpoint was fucking crazy.
Didn't know it was out. I will try to find a copy tomorrow.

I would be ok with an adaption of 'Court of Owls' the Batman story though. I really enjoyed that. |

It's rare these days to have an 'event' that is self-contained within 5 issues and doesn't require reading a bazillion tie-ins to follow what is going on. Thought the Batman mini-series was fantastic. |
What does everyone think of 'Trinity War' so far?
I like that it will be over and done with in two months but it just seems like it is missing something so far. It just doesn't have the 'wow' factor yet for me. |
Haven't read Trinity War because it does not fall within the group of books that I still bother to keep up with.
I want a whole movie about Thomas Wayne-Batman in the Flashpoint universe. His origin manages to be more depressing than what we seen with Bruce.
Flashpoint Paradox was great. Pleasantly more violent than I'd expect. Worth buying when it's a bit cheaper for sure.
Flashpoint Paradox was simply amazing to me. It was very much worth the wait. I'm loved seeing Aqualad, Tula, Tempest, Manta outside of Young Justice.
Still carrying a torch over here. |
It was alrighgt.
So, ummm, some rather big news coming out of SDCC......
http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18uh.../ku-xlarge.jpg |
That is rather big news.
2015 is one packed year for movies. Half of them are going to "bomb" just because people will get tired of a "must see blockbuster" coming out every other week.
Please don't screw it up.

Still need to finish season 1 of that show
Hot damn, Black Canary!
Two more DC Animated Movies announced:
"Son of Batman" based on Grant Morrison's Batman and Son. and "Batman: Assault on Arkham". No info on what this is based on. |
All the Batman animated stuff was great, these should be cool.
Son of Batman isn't post new-52 so there is still hope for older stories.
Wonder who will voice Damian? |
Almost certainly Chandler Riggs. That's just a guess from the top of my head but I am so sure of it.
I bet Kalyx has some inside info because of that one time Chandler Riggs got to meet him.
If I knew about these movies I certainly would have choked it out of him, or at least suggested he lobby for it. Then again casting is down by the time we hear about it.
Son of Batman sounds fun, and points to DC not forgetting about any past stories that can still be adapted to film.
Be interesting to see if they have Tim Drake as Robin or Red Robin to bring it in line with New 52 continuity.

Glad to see Flash get more attention. :y:
Barry's back on TV, though I have a feeling it will be Wally.
Makes me want to go back and watch the old CBS Flash series.
Hopefully it's still as great as I remember. |
How old were you?
Like 7. I know it won't be that good, which is why I haven't actually gone back to watch it, but I can still view it through nostalgia.
That feeling's overrated, but do like to hear the MMPR theme every once and a while.
Never saw The Flash TV show. I think I tried to watch it a few years ago, and got through the pilot, but that was about it.
I hope the Flashhe doesn't have powers, because super powers are going to ruin Arrow.
Get all super powers away from Arrow. |
So... what exactly do you suggest?
No Flash series or other any superhero in the same universe as Arrow.
Keep everything grounded. |
They're not having that conversation. Barry's appearing in Arrow, his origin may take place as soon as this season. It's happening.
Now how do you suggest they handle his signature ability? |
A really fast Segway.
Kenyan dude
Really fast typer?

The suit's worse than George Clooney's Batnipple costume. |
I like the Clooney better in general, since I always thought that Flash suit was overly buff.
Batman, Incorporated ends today, as does Grant Morrison's seven-year run on the Bat.
I predict, like most Bat-things Morrison writes, it will end with a whimper rather than a bang (Final Crisis, Batman RIP, etc). |
Disliked most of his run. Loved what other writers were able to do with the status quo he created, though.
I would agree with that statement.
I'm really enjoying Scott Snyder's take on the bat so far, I hear Tomasi's stuff is often outstanding. |
I think Grant's problem is he doesn't follow thru on anything he writes. He introduces twists and new plot developments and tends to leave them as is. I heard Kathy Kane was revealed alive in Batman Inc. I imagine nothing will come of this.
Final Crisis for all it's hype, ended up being dull and was way overshadowed by Blackest Night and Flashpoint. Batman RIP promised 'the most shocking moment in Batman's 70 year history,' and ended with Batman disappearing in the Gotham River in a helicopter explosion. For everything I enjoy, such as the explanation for Batman's wacky adventures in the 60's and Bat-Mite, and the existence of Damian, there are all the things Grant starts and never resolves, like Dr. Hurt, Damian making a deal with the devil, the entire storyline of Mandrakk the Monitor, etc. I was reading an interview with him where he discussed his take on Wonder Woman and I caught myself going 'oh, that sounds interesting' and then remembered it was Grant Morrison and it will go absolutely nowhere with any form of resolution, just ideas thrown up all over the place. |
Yeah, Snyder and Tomasi have both been doing great things
Batman Incorporated I'll get it next week. I loved Grant's run. I just dropped Snyders book in issue 22 or something, it's not bad I just don't care anymore and I'm not interested in the recent arc one bit.
So yeah, no more DC books for me until Multiverse or whatever Grant is doing. |
I have loved Snyder's run. The Court of Owl's was really good. Loved the Joker arc, and, while building slowly, the current Zero Year run is promising.
Amazon's advertising the Kindle versions of all 66 issues of the Flashpoint series for .99 apiece temporarily. Don't know if the series is any good, or if people here even use the kindle app for comics reading, but there it is.
If you havnt been reading the injustice comic... get on it
Does it require the game to "fully get"?
nope... in fact the game spoils some of the twists
Reading up on it. Apparently it is a prequel to the game? So I will never get a complete story unless I buy the game. Nuts to that.
ugh... yes its a prequel, but one you can watch the cinematics of whats going on in the game on youtube, and the story is awesome
Awesome's a strong word.
I do hear good things about the comic. Though if I am not gonna get the whole story, I don't want it. I will see if they adapt the game story once they get to that point.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/5jFAh6QN5Uk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Heres the entire game story ya lazy fuck |
Quote:
I seen the entire story of the game, which I figure you were referring to, and I wouldn't call it 'awesome'. Me and the guys did find it hilarious, though.
I read a few pages of the first comic issue. Not my cup of tea. I mean, while it may make for an interesting videogame we're talking narrative threads that's been done to death in the comics and at least three times in the DCAU alone. I'm straight. |
read more than just the first couple pages of the digital comics
I don't owe any story more than the initial pages that should have hooked me to begin with. Even that was me being generous since I think Injustice is kinda ass anyway.
Come on bro, most comics can't hook you in a few pages alone.
I'm with Kalyx. I enjoyed the Injustice story for what it was , but its nothing special IMO.
At this point, I'm getting a bit sick of alternate reality stories. And I'm a guy who used to love that shit. |

2001-2009, for me, was a great time to read hero books. I still have original prints of Superman/Batman with the Ed M. art. I have Ultimate Spidey number 1. A gang load of Transformers by Dreamwave before they folded. But at this point I'm good off that. Cartoons and movies for me. |
Worst art in years? I believe you're thinking of the 90's.
No reason to count back that far. The art from the time I was buying every month is way better than now, save for the occasion event story where a great artist gets to work. Saying it's better than the 90s is a cop out. Everything is better than that period.
Honestly, over the past 10 years, the art work has been one of the best things about comics. It's a big part of what got me back into comics in 03'.
So many distinct, yet recognizable styles. Feel like there were a ton of books in the 90's that looked like the artists were just phoning it in. Like the art in the 3 musketeers advertisement was better than the art of the actual book. |

Perhaps I could be swayed, but that's still one gripe out of two. I can't keep up with Marvel and the New 52 can go fuck itself.
Marvel is easier to follow, but by biggest gripe is how they never commit to anything.
Like why the fuck should anything matter when the status quo is going to be reset to default anyway.
I mean they still manage to tell some great stories, but there's potential for hundreds more if they would just stick to their guns. Did any one give a shit about Scarlet Witch's return to the avengers recently? Does any one here even know about it? Imagine if they would have committed to her as a villain. Just this psycho reality warping, galactus level threat, for like 10-15 years. Her redemption could have been the event of the year, and in the mean time, you e got a truly scary threat for the marvel universe. That's just one example. There have been countless others. |
I remember tearing in to that before.
I also loved the way she "attacked" people by disassembling them into thousands of puzzle pieces. Was a really cool looking effect. Would have liked to of seen her do that to more heroes over the years.
There's also the potential of her teaming with her brother after his fall from grace. Another lost opportunity. |
They did a pretty cool thing with her and Hope summers destroying the Phoenix force.
And the artwork now is great. The artists that did the latest carnage books were unreal. Too bad it was wasted on a Carnage story.
when did we ever see artwork like that in comics???
I don't count covers. I have countless covers in my HDD, they're often great. I'm talking interiors.
Interiors can often be just as good as that.
Love how you are all talking about Marvel in the DC thread.
As far as the artwork discussion goes, I'm talking the entire industry.
Yeah we're not Nazi's about it.
I have no issue about it, I just found it note worthy.
Quote:
Some cover artists do interiors. Okay.
A lot of them do interiors. In fact I feel like more often than not, the cover art matches the interior.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim explains how the Arrow universe can support a presumably more fantastical spin-off, The Flash:
"I think a lot of people are justified in asking 'What does this mean for Arrow in terms of its tone?' And my answer is that the trick that we have – and this is a challenge we've discusses a lot and have an awareness of how to face it head on – is the fact that 'Arrow' is like 'Iron Man' where 'The Flash' will be 'The Hulk.' And just as 'The Hulk' coming out did not change the tone of the Iron Man movies, 'The Flash' will not change the tone of 'Arrow.' We're very cognizant of what 'Arrow' is all about, and I think the Marvel movies demonstrate that each piece of a universe can have its own feel. 'Thor' is consistent with the tone of Thor while 'Captain America' is consistent with the tone of Captain America's character. 'Arrow's' tone will remain consistent much in the same way, and we are looking forward to expanding our canvass a bit. And judging from the announcement, I think the fans are looking forward to it as well." |
Boooooo
I like it. Makes sense.
Anything involving more DC characters always has my support.
