We're playing Blackburn at Ewood in the quarter's then, can't see us winning but maybe a draw, been a good run anyway.

Chance to give Dickov some stick at least

Cactus Sid 03-01-2005 06:50 PM

Its a shame Paddy Kenny was injured :(

Dazz 03-01-2005 07:00 PM

Unlucky Sheffield United, shame I now can't go out, was going to after the game but my mates now can't be bothered

El Capitano Gatisto 03-01-2005 07:06 PM

I bet they could be bothered if they really existed.

Dazz 03-01-2005 07:31 PM

No, they can't :(. It's free entry till 11, some of them went earlier, but the rest didn't wanna pay a fiver to get in, considering not many of us are drinking either it makes it even less worthwile.

El Capitano Gatisto 03-01-2005 07:32 PM

Probably a gay bar.

Dazz 03-01-2005 08:12 PM

Nah, Time/Envy, I have only been there three times but pulled a honey the last time I was there, therefore I wanna go back.

Y2Ant 03-01-2005 10:26 PM

Patrick Kenny's penalty saving efforts are among the greatest I have ever seen.

Wengerland 03-02-2005 11:54 AM

How much were the cup final tickets, Dazz?

With the FA Cup semi's being played in Cardiff too i may go to the Millenium Stadium, if we get through.

Dazz 03-02-2005 12:17 PM

Much better pricing then you'd expect, it was 44 quid for mine, and the four choices were 34, 44, 58 and 68 pounds, the supporters coach shouldn't be more then like 30 quid, definitley go, you'd be a fucking idiot not to, a fucking idiot I tells ya. The whole day is great, go to the pub before the game, all your fans will be well up for a laugh and be well rowdy.

Rob 03-02-2005 04:04 PM

Any Cardiff fans around Dazz?

Mr. Monday Morning 03-02-2005 04:38 PM

The fact Dazz is alive suggests not

Wengerland 03-02-2005 04:57 PM

Prutton's got a 10 game ban for his antics on saturday. Suppose that's alright, 1 game less than Di Canio got.

Tbh I don't think you can compare them, Di Canio deliberately shoved the ref down as hard as he could, Prutton was just trying to move him out the way so he could kick the crap out of the linesman.

Oh well :)

El Capitano Gatisto 03-02-2005 06:00 PM

Alcock dived. Seriously. There's no way Di Canio's push should have knocked the old tart over.

He was such a shit referee. He even tried to claim damages over that push.

The Mask 03-02-2005 06:08 PM

haha yeah, he had a huge list of stuff too, it was great.

El Capitano Gatisto 03-02-2005 06:10 PM

A trapped nerve in his arse that made it difficult for him to walk and caused chronic back pain, possibly leading to permanent disability. Psychological trauma at being attacked on the football pitch, causing the fear that it might happen again every time he cards an angry Italian maestro.

Well yes true. But still it was a deliberate shove rather than the mild pawing Prutton's been done for.

El Capitano Gatisto 03-02-2005 06:21 PM

I'd give him 10 games for the tackles, anyway. They were both shitty, dirty leg-break attempts that could have kept players out for a lot more than ten games.

Viewed in that light, he shouldn't even have been mouthing off in the first place considering how chickenshit both challenges were.

Later on I saw many ore Cardiff fans in their shirts as I went to the uni, United lost to Portsmouth that day

Couldn't agree more.

I'd never even heard of the guy before all this happened, he claims that we saw 'an image of him that isn't him', I dunno, he looks like a bit of a cunt to me.

Dazz 03-02-2005 10:09 PM

I'd heard of him but I dunno where from, also, wasn't your custom title in purple the other day?

Rob 03-02-2005 10:13 PM

I wouldn't say Prutton is a dirty player by any stretch though. 10 game ban was definately too harsh. He only got 1 for red card which means 9 for pushing the ref. That's bollocks. Maybe 4 at the most for the "pushes". Jesus, my missus pushes me harder just to wake me up in the mornings!

Dazz 03-02-2005 10:17 PM

Well, the referee is meant to be treated with respect and stuff, it's the principal of what he did.

I doubt your missus (or anyone) treats you with respect ;).

Ogen 03-02-2005 11:52 PM

Nah 10 games is right. He pushed the ref that has to be clamped down on hard. Di Canio got 11 iirc. Prutton was being a twat anyway. Its not even like he was fucked over he well deserved to go.

Wengerland 03-03-2005 06:43 AM

Yep, Di Canio's was 11 games, 3 for the red and 8 for the push. Prutton's wasn't as bad but the way he was looking towards the assistant it would have been interesting to see what Prutton would have done to him. Agree with ECG about Alcock's reaction, there was maybe enough force to push him back, but not really knock him over.

Leicester have signed a young Irish defender, Patrick McCarthy, from Man City. Don't know much about him but he hasn't played in their first team, which is a concern, but Sunderland did something similiar with Stephen Elliot and he's done well for them. Also set to sign Kenton on loan, not really needed but he should be alright for this league.

Callum Flanagan and Mads Timm of Man United got jail time today. Flanagan got 8 month for pleading guilty to dangerous driving. Timm got 12 months and pleaded not guilty.

Careers are definately over now. Sir Alex won't stick with them.

Sentences are fair but when in the same week some African who doesn't even hold residence in the UK, nevermind a drivers license or insurance got less than this punishment for actually killing someone, it comes off like a joke.

Rob 03-03-2005 11:21 AM

You mean Lee Hughes?

Mr. Monday Morning 03-03-2005 11:22 AM

I think you mean Lee Hughes. And he left the scene of the accident and had his wife make up an alibi for him, which understandably resulted in a far harsher sentance. Plus I think he had history of drunk driving, or dangerous, something like that.

He's not a very good footballer, looks like a warewolf, he was a fixture in the England U21 side that was total bollocks under David Platt, signed from Forest for like £2,000,000.

but yeah, some of the bollocks him and Redknapp were saying to the media to try and get the FA to go easy on him "he's a good lad, he's made a mistake, totally out of character, he comes from a good family." :|

Doesn't matter if he supposedly isn't a dirty player. Both tackles were bad. They weren't mistimed, just horrible.

Wengerland 03-03-2005 04:35 PM

Heard that a Hearts player, one of the Lithuanians they have, did something similiar to Prutton to an official in their game against Rangers on wednesday. Not seen it or anything but judging by the reaction of John Robertson, it could be a similiar ban.

Prutton is a good player and he was at Forest.

Wengerland 03-04-2005 05:31 AM

The 2006 FA Cup final will be staged a week early on 13 May to help England's World Cup preparations.

Sides in the Uefa Cup will not play FA Cup fifth round or quarter-final replays, and those in the Champions League will not replay quarter-finals.

Rob 03-04-2005 06:25 AM

They aren't gonna win it anyway so they might as well keep the season how it is. It will give Sven another excuse.

Yeah they were bad tackles. Not debating that. What I am debating is that he got two yellows for the tackles so that's a 1 game ban. That means he got 9 games for "pushing" the ref which I think is too harsh. Personally, I think what Jaap Stam and the rest did to the ref at Old Trafford a few years ago was worse.

Have to see how we go i suppose, i really believe Sven will leave anyway. One more week shouldn't make much of a difference, but may aswell give it a chance, it's not like these are huge changes anyway.

the referee (D'Urso?) shouldn't have backed off like he did, he should've stood his ground, told them to fuck off and booked them if they didn't. They only kept moving closer to him because he kept backing off, D'Urso should've taken control of the situation.

Prutton was pushing into the ref to try and get to the linesman after he had already been sent off. Its not really 9 games for the shove, its for the shove, the use of foul and abusive language and the failure to leave the pitch quickly after being sent off. Think of it like 2 matches for failing to leave the pitch, 2 for the language and 5 for shoving the official.

how will that work then, what happens if man u play palace & it ends in a draw? (man u will prob be in europe, dont think palace will so used as example) does it get settled there and then i.e on penacks?

but what happens if say stoke and mk dons were to play each other in 5th round/ qtr final and that ended in a draw, would they go to a replay as they arnt involved in europe, if so how is that fair? :?:

Wengerland 03-06-2005 01:10 PM

Don't know the ins and outs, but Stoke and MK Dons would replay it in your example. The Palace/Man U game would be settled on the night with extra time/penalties.

It's probably because of what happened with the 4th round replays this season, because there were internationals on the wednesday they couldn't be played in midweek and so the games (West Ham vs Sheff Utd is the only one i can think of) was played at the weekend, and that meant them missing a league fixture. If they want to get the league finished a week earlier then i don't think the teams in Europe could get a replay in, or something like that.

Danny Electric 03-06-2005 01:54 PM

Come on blackburn.

Dazz 03-06-2005 02:27 PM

Yeah Wengerlands right, any team in Europe has enough fixtures as it is so it's settled on the night. Any team outside of Europ can play in midweek, obviously not when theres internationals but I guess the FA will not play the F.A cup ties around the times of internationals.

Y2Ant 03-06-2005 08:07 PM

I can't remember the last time we beat Liverpool

Mr. Monday Morning 03-06-2005 08:08 PM

Mike the Metal Ed 03-06-2005 08:16 PM

UEFA Cup over FA Cup.

Glad to see our FA has it's priorities right again.

Dazz 03-06-2005 08:47 PM

England has to look good in Europe, like when the F.A let United not enter the F.A cup to represent England in the World Club Championships. The better we do in Europe the more places we get and the better reputation we get in Europe.

It's funny really. He took the elbow smash, turned around, took a headbutt the the bridge of his nose and then was choked and he STILL didn't go down :D My kind of player!

Where's Akinbyi's 10 game ban? He was far worse than David Prutton but I guess it's more acceptable to assault another player (because there wasn't a single attempt at a tackle) than it is to nudge a ref.

Rob 03-07-2005 01:56 PM

FA Cup is a friggin' joke. Between the teams still in the Champions League, there are only about 8 or 9 England regulars. Helps every other country with players in those teams just as much. Erikkson is such a tool. I hope he gets a club job in Spain or Italy next season just so I don't see his mug on TV or in the papers every week.

thats kinda the point i was trying to get to, most of our top teams are filled with people from abroad so why move the FA cup final, it'll only aid and rest the other countries players aswell so we wont be getting any real advantage.

i always like watching the cup final as it was the climax to a season!

out of cuorisity when does the spanish season finish as owen, beckham and erm woodgate (yeh world cups over a year away so he has an outside chance of being fit) must be key players for us (well owen at least)
