Lol, I’m going to check out that Thunder. It’s weird that Thunder then completely smokes most modern wrestling now. The inconsequential nature of Thunder makes it contemporarily competitive.

Without even looking at any of that show, my guess is that this is "hobby horse" Chavo (Pepe, was it)? Because inanimate objects are USUALLY a way of getting over pretty hot, see: Head, Moppy, Undertaker's urn, Cody's mustache, Hacksaw's 2x4, Mitch the Potted Plant.

The only person I don't remember it working for in any way was "Disqo" Inferno when he had the duck, his "visual aid". Nobody gave a shit.

Stop right there. This idea is bad already. Even if it involves CM Punk having a match in the Tokyo Dome, whatever came after that would prob'ly be horseshit.

Probably having something to do with my knowledge on 90s joshi wrestling was “oh I saw that lady wrestle Alundra Blayze once on Superstars”

Sepholio 10-05-2023 11:13 PM

Dude that move where she had Dynamite up like an electric chair and was holding her arms in an X and then went back into a pin was fucking sweet.

Dick Beyer coached wrestling at a rival high school where I grew up. Back then I had never even heard of the destroyer, butI still find it pretty cool. I also became friends with someone from that school in college and it turned out Beyer was one of the most beloved members of that community and a genuinely awesome human being.

Fastlane has 5 announced matches and only one singles match. Odd card.

Mr. Nerfect 10-06-2023 05:19 PM

Didn’t most of their shows go to about 5 or 6 matches over the past year or so?

XL 10-07-2023 07:16 AM

7 seems to be about the average they’ve gone for for the “b” shows, with the odd 6. I think there was a recent show that had 5 advertised and an “impromptu” match on the night.

XL 10-07-2023 07:17 AM

Elimination Chamber had 5 but 2 of those were Chamber matches.

Ah yeah, seems about right. 5 used to be the magic number for Takeover shows, so I might be conflating that. They can always throw out something else for the card if they haven’t already.

As for the lack of straight one-on-one matches: Eh, with so few matches, I can see it being totally accidental. But maybe their thinking is to really emphasize the Rollins/Nakamura match?

Apparently NWA is bringing back the territory structure.

Quote:

NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE EMBARKS ON HISTORIC TERRITORY SYSTEM REVIVAL UNDER LEADERSHIP OF PRESIDENT WILLIAM PATRICK CORGAN

• The first affiliate territory for the Lightning One era is NWA Exodus Pro Midwest

• Territory is lead by NWA World's Heavyweight Champion EC3

• More territories are being explored domestically and internationally

CLEVELAND, OH - In a move marking a pivotal moment in the history of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), President William Patrick Corgan has announced the revival of the promotion's territorial system, a cherished tradition for the NWA, which harkens back to the roots of professional wrestling and the alliance's formation 75 years ago. The move is aimed at fostering collaboration, unity and the development of future wrestling stars. The inaugural affiliate territory to join this initiative is NWA Exodus Pro Midwest, under the stewardship of none other than the NWA World's Heavyweight Champion, EC3.

In a statement reflecting the essence of this moment, Billy Corgan remarked, "We are returning to the collaboration that defined the NWA, embracing a model that not only honors our rich history but also propels us into a future of young stars. This initial undertaking with NWA Exodus Pro, as well as all our affiliate promotions to come, will play a pivotal role in who appears on NWA television in the future, as well as affording those affiliate promotions consistent access to all the top NWA champions and superstars."

NWA Exodus Pro Midwest, led by the illustrious NWA World's Heavyweight Champion EC3, will see its Men's Heavyweight Championship officially recognized by the NWA-a testament to the gravity of this new chapter in NWA history. This collaboration not only signifies a mutual partnership but also symbolizes a shared commitment to the growth and evolution of professional wrestling. EC3 expressed his excitement, stating, "I am honored to lead NWA Exodus Pro Midwest into this new chapter. I've long sought a way to create a platform of opportunity for up and coming talent to "tell their story." With the WPC and the NWA, I have the right partner and wrestling's most important legacy. To have the NWA's brand, create shows, and cultivate talent, especially in the Midwest region, is something I'm incredibly passionate about. Together, we will pave the way for a future that respects the traditions of the past while pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Dare I say, we can "control the narrative."

The inaugural celebration of this historic affiliation will be marked by "NWA Presents: Samhain" on October 28, 2023, hosted at Temple Live in Cleveland. Fans can secure their tickets and pay-per-view access by visiting NWATix.com and Fite.TV.

Up next for the promotion is NWA Samhain. The event will take place in EC3's hometown of Cleveland, where he will be running the NWA Exodus Pro Midwest promotion. The lineup for the show is below.

NWA Samhain on October 28, 2023 lineup:

NWA World Women's Tag Team Champions Pretty Empowered (Ella Envy & Kylie Paige) defend against Taylor Rising & Natalia Markova
NWA World Tag Team Championship Blunt Force Trauma (Damage & Carnage) w/Aron Stevens defend against Mike Knox & Trevor Murdoch in a Medieval Knights of The Round Tables Tables match
NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Colby Corino defends against Joe Alonzo
NWA World Women's Champion Kenzie Paige defends against Ruthie Jay
NWA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 defends against Thom Latimer w/Kamille

Total Divas Return - Phyllis Brooks & Jackson Perry

Quote:

Fans of the long-running “reality” program Total Divas are abuzz today after the announcement that the series will return starring two of the biggest divas in wrestling today, CM Punk and Jack Perry.

Sparks will fly when these two feisty hellcats are forced to co-exist in Divas Mansion, followed 24-7 by cameras, alongside some of wrestling’s other biggest Divas.

Punk and Perry, who scratched and hair-pulled during a highly publicized catfight backstage at a recent AEW event, will be joined the program by Divas including:

Shawn Michaels, the 67-year-old bushman who still calls himself The Heartbreak Kid with a straight face
Ryback, a voracious eater with a quirky personality
Low-Ki, a deep-voiced Diva nicknamed Hi-Maintenance
Hulk Hogan, a self-described former bassist for U2
Longtime fans of Total Divas should expect the upcoming season to be just as insufferable as they’ve come to expect.

May have been true at one point, but now people actually get better at the Performance Center. Look at Julius Creed for example. Dude wrestles like Kenny Omega on crack, but somehow tries to make it make sense. Wrestling outside WWE isn’t very good.
