Random: one of my fav "bad lines" of recent years is when The Ascension was doing a promo and the one guy yelled " we were born and bred, to rip and shred!"

Despite this going viral when it happened, google searching "vegas ufo" yields nothing about it.

I think that was the same promo where they talked about how much better they were than all the much better, very successful teams their gimmick blatantly ripped off. Just a terrible main roster introduction all around.

Shame because I thought they were decent enough as a bruiser team, but they never recovered from that promo, which was probably written for them by some jackass writer.

The Ascension were awful.

Watching the Eddie vs Rey custody ladder match from Sunmerslam 05 for the first time. I’ve been told on good authority that it’s a fantastic clusterfuck and must see.

I didn’t realize it was recognized and confirmed that Eddie was Dom’s biological father and Rey adopted him (kayfabe)

Always thought it was just Eddie lying to hurt Rey’s feelings

Eddie so roided out it’s effecting his posture

Nasty seated senton to the outside that Eddie absorbs entirely with his neck. Jesus

First major botch of the match. Busted sunset flip bomb off the ladder

OH MY GOD that was possibly the nastiest ladder spot I’ve ever seen. Rey’s knee and neck are toast. I think it was supposed to be a back body drop. It was not.

Now Rey dangling from the hanging briefcase falls into an Eddie powerbomb. This was planned. This match is giving me anxiety.

Oh yeah the “where the fuck was Vickie?!” moment. Edited out on the network of course.

This match definitely living up to a fantastic clusterfuck reputation

Crowd (and Tazz and Cole) are super into this match and making it feel more important

There’s Vickie for the finish. What a match. What a train wreck.

Amazing to compare this to their Halloween Havoc match which was flawless. But both were super entertaining.

Rollermacka is still unpinned or submitted in his RAW appearances. How many people can make this claim... especially around here?

Also, respectfully disagree with that assessment of The Ascention. Going from "the most dominant tag team in NXT history" to "two guys who think they're better than they are and can't even beat supposed retired has-beens" in a couple of weeks is a hell of a switch to get upon call-up. They got the double whammy of getting their nuts cut off AND being in a company who doesn't give a shit about tag teams even when they're in the throes of one of their many revamps of the division that they lose interest in on the backswing.

They might not have been The British Bulldogs, but nowadays, even The British Bulldogs as they were in their prime wouldn't be allowed to be in current WWE. They'd have gotten split up as soon as possible just because and never gotten the chance to be the legendary tag team.

Oh the Ascension. I remember that wra of NXT/WWE having so many small wrestlers, so they were being presented as a bruising tag team when they really weren't. I also hated their finisher.

They were unbeaten in NXT for a bit, and then fizzled on RAW. Probably because they weren't actually much bigger or more imposing than anyone else.

They were also "better" before they switched to the Egyptian motif and had the blue light "epic music" entrance.
