Those of you interested in the history of professional wrestling:
http://www.memphiswrestlinghistory.c.../mwh77bar2.jpg I cannot recommend this book enough! I mean this one is just a great read on the year 1977 for the Memphis promotion. It discusses the war between Jerry Jarrett and Nick Gulas over Memphis. Jerry was lead to believe he had purchased 50 percent of the company and therefore could run things his way. Well Nick let him know that he in fact had purchased the right to buy part of the company and not the Memphis end of the company. Jerry found out one day when Nick wanted Jerry to book his son George on the Memphis end of the territory. heh. George was perhaps one of the worst if not the worst wrestler to ever lace a pair of boots. Jerry refused to book George as he knew it would kill business quickly just as it had done for Nick and the Nashville-Chattanooga end. Nick Gulas still operated as if it was 1957 not 1977. No one in their right mind would ever buy George as a top babyface. He was no match for Memphis heels like Jerry Lawler, Mongolian Stomper and etc. For several weeks Jerry and Nick both ran cards in Memphis after their split. Jerry unfortunately was relegated to using the much older Cook Convention Center. Nick had had an exclusivity clause with the Mid South Coliseum at the time. Jerry and his stars found a home on WMC TV-5 very quickly. Nick had none as WHBQ quickly canceled the wrestling show when Jerry and Nick split. The book provides you with a great look at the many stars and storylines throughout 1977. Many of the old programs and newspaper clippings have been reproduced for the book too. well worth your money!! |

I enjoyed the highlights of the tag team turmoil match from this week's Smackdown. Daniel Bryan reminded me of the resilience and submission expertise of Chris Benoit.

Just because someone is a good singles wrestlers doesn't mean they cant contribute to tag team wrestling. For example, CHW wrestlers Innovator and Devastator are both tag team wrestling champions, but Inno is also a singles legend and former world champ. I think Bryan can be like WWE's Innovator. Who would you pick to be Bryan's Devastator?!!! |

Let's all take the time to remember, and appreciate, the time Big Show and Kane chain wrestled for no reason at all. On my phone, so wasn't sure how to embed the video, sorry.

Team Hell No were so awesome! The way they came together all the way to their split, their run was easily one of the best random pairings of two superstars.

what a tremendous worker Tony was.
He put on some amazing matches with Les Thornton and Billy Robinson. http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-t...es-passes-away http://www.wrestlingfurnace.com/gall.../charles29.jpg Former Checkmate, Tony Charles passes away Tony Charles, one of the greatest wrestles ever to come from Wales, passed away yesterday after a long battle with Alzheimer's it was reported by the British Wrestling Reunion. He was 74. Charles wrestled from 1959 to 1984, with him working under the name The Checkmate as part of Devastation Inc. during the last few years of his career. Charles was one of the best technical wrestlers in North America, an underrated talent who first made his name on the European scene. His international break was a tour of Japan in 1968 with the IWE, and he started in North America in 1972 as the tag team partner of Len Rossi. He first came to Florida in 1973, and Eddie Graham loved to book him in technical matches against Les Thornton, that would tear down the house. With all the talent in Florida at the time, which was probably pro wrestling's best territory when it came to talent, the 20 minute Thornton vs. Charles matches were often among the best matches on the show. The two later became tag team partners. Because of his size, Charles was mainly used as a mid-card wrestler working around the world. He was also a regular opponent of Billy Robinson. Charles was a top level amateur wrestler before he turned pro, competing at the international level when he was only 18 years old, but turned pro at 19 so missed his prime in that sport. Charles had retired to Gulf Breeze, FL after his wrestling career ended. |
Feel like 85% of Seth82 posts now are him posting that people have died.

I don't post here all that often anymore.
When I do post here it does tend to be about a wrestler's death. I do feel like their death should be posted here. Many have likely never heard of these older veterans but their death shouldn't be ignored. |

Does anyone know what happened to Johnny Jeter after he left the WWE? Had high hopes for that kid.
|
Jeter was released from WWE in late 2007.[2][5] He wrestled several matches for OVW before retiring from professional wrestling in 2008 to train as an accountant.[2][3]
Chikara (2014) On August 21, 2014, the Chikara promotion announced that Jeter, under his Spirit Squad character, would be taking part in the 2014 King of Trios tournament, where he would team with Kenny and Mikey.[34] After a win over Sinn Bodhi and the Odditorium (Qefka the Quiet and Sir Oliver Grimsly) on September 19, the Spirit Squad was eliminated from the tournament in the second round on September 20 by the Golden Trio (Dasher Hatfield, Icarus and Mark Angelosetti).[35] |
So he's obviously still in wrestling shape. I'd love to see him get another shot, to be honest. He's only 33 years old.
|
I'm starting to think I might be able to get into Rusev vs. Cena. I just want Cena to talk more about how important the US Title was to his career.
|
Start by him even acknowledging that it is a title match.... I don't think he has even mentioned the belt yet...
|
It should be the central focus of their feud.
|
Genuinely can't understand why they haven't made it the focus, as they've made it a title match.
If Cena loses, the title looks great because it's something he wanted, yet failed to get. If he wins it, the belt gets a rub just by being on him. Then the guy that beats him, also looks great. Win-win-win situation. Surely? |

The last time I saw Seth post about a death, he copied and pasted about how the family didn't want footage of the death shown, and then he embedded a video of the death. Strange as always.

It is so fucking sad that the WWE Divas division will never be as good as the NXT's women's wrestling division.
|
It will when the NXT girls take over.
|
Not if current WWE TV sticks to what it does now. It feels like they have more attention/respect on NXT than the main roster. Divas anything on RAW/Smackdown feels rushed and "meh".
|
|
how nobody outside of Japan has stolen his gimmick yet completely baffles me. Basically a license to print money

I was thinking about what women's match they can put on at WrestleMania. At this point in time, I'd be building to The Bella Twins & Natalya vs. Paige, AJ Lee & Naomi. I'd maybe consider adding in Sasha Banks to the heel side and Charlotte to the face side.
* At Fast Lane, Paige gives Nikki Bella her best shot, but Brie keeps getting involved. A stray sidekick from Paige knocks the referee down, and Brie uses this as an opportunity to get involved. Natalya makes her way out, and fights off Brie. Nattie takes the Divas Title (which Nikki was going to use as a weapon)...and blasts Paige with it Nattie by Nature style. Nikki crawls into the pin and gets the three. * Paige obviously wants Nattie's blood. Natalya's reasoning for costing Paige the title is that she's sick of playing nice with these young girls, and she's sick of them shooting above her in the line. It's time for Natalya to become the premier player in the Divas Division. * Paige and Natalya tear it up in a match on either RAW or SmackDown, which Paige wins, because she's the face you should be building up to the big title victory. * AJ Lee returns, and makes it clear she's back for one reason and one reason only -- to become the Divas Champion. She joins the face side of the Divas roster, fighting against Nikki and Brie. * Naomi gets involved due to issues with Natalya. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro have their rivalry with The Usos, so it only makes sense for Nattie and Naomi to have problems. There are your parameters for the match. Paige is the one with the brightest future at this point in time, so you use WrestleMania to give her a spot to the shine. AJ Lee and Naomi also benefit from the showing. Paige can then win a Triple Threat against those girls to become the official #1 Contender, and then move into a match against Nikki Bella after taking out Brie. Whilst this is going on, you've been working with Ronda Rousey, and you eventually bring her in as a "Paul Heyman Girl" to face Paige for the Divas Title. |
Should just have a Titty Honking match
